Dear Sensei Fariborz,
This week has been really interesting and I think you’d like to hear it. Recently, I’ve been hurt by a lot of my friends or who I thought were my friends at least. They’ve lied and continually shown me that I have no value. however, I couldn’t back down that easy. I tried taking your advice that you gave me in Sahar the other night by breaking my state of mind and focusing on everything but that it’s really helped me grow as a person.
I’ve recently tried not giving them what they want and not feeding into their inexcusable behavior and actions. Instead of coming home and crying to my parents, I just ignore them in the moment. I used to want to switch schools and I was just overall depressed, even if I didn’t show when in the studio. That’s something else I’ve been trying to work ; not bringing in the energy from outside in the studio. I’ve tried to follow what you’ve always told us: Ask yourself what you’re doing, where you are, and is it real.

Moreover, I realize that journaling in these reports have really made a difference not just mentally or physically or even emotionally but overall. By writing you, a redis covered my passion, creative, writing, and journaling. It’s gotten my mind off everything that’s ever bothered me. So I thank you for showing me and helping me the way to growing strong, stronger, mentally, emotionally and physically.

On another note, I’ve been really busy this week with finals and this writing has really helped me not consume myself while being stressed.

I’ve also been getting my sister ready for a performance. It’s been frustrating trying to juggle everything but I’m managing and I want to thank you for that. Before the black belt test I wanted to quit, but you showed me how to balance things and not let one thing take over everything, and I don’t know how I could ever repay you.

Martial arts brings my spark out and passion, if not for Layla convincing me to join that day, who knows where I’d be today. I can’t wait to be back at the studio and last nights class really made me happy. Until next time.

With all my love,
Ashley Farzad ❤️
